Are there items that families need more than others?

The greatest needs for families is subject to change. Please click here for the current list of greatest needs.

​What donations are COTS unable to accept?

We are unable to accept the following items:

  • Used/previously played with toys, games or stuffed animals
  • Used/previously worn undergarments
  • Used baby bottles, car seats or strollers
  • Used linens or pillows
  • Furniture
  • Appliances


Do you accept new and gently used women’s, men’s and children’s clothing all year long?

Due to limited storage space, we prioritize receipt of clothing based upon season. 

  • Spring and summer clothing will be accepted from February 1st – June 30th.
  • Fall clothing and school uniforms will be accepted from July 1st – September 30th.
  • Winter clothing will be accepted from October 1st – January 31st. 


When and how do I deliver my donation?

To arrange for a drop-of of your donation, please call Jonathan at 313-806-0904 to arrange a date and time convenient for you.  

Will someone pick up my donation?

Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to pick-up donations. 

Can I mail my donation?

If you would like to mail a donation of an item, please call Jonathan at 313-806-0904 to discuss mailing your donation. We also have an Amazon Wish List where pre-selected items may be purchased and can be mailed directly to COTS. 

May I deliver my gift directly to families?

For the privacy and dignity of the families we serve, we do not allow members of the public to deliver gifts directly to families. We will make sure that items are shared with families and distributed where they are needed most. 

I have an item to donate but don’t see it on your list. May I still bring it?

If you would like to donate items not on the wish list, please callJonathan at 313-806-0904to inquire if COTS will be able to accept the items.

Are donations tax deductible?

Donations may offer tax benefits, please consult a tax professional for advice. Donors can be provided with a receipt for tax purposes. When you deliver your donation, please complete the In-Kind Donation Form and keep the yellow copy for your records. If you mail your donation directly to, a donation receipt will be provided for you. For more information, please contact Andrea at 313-576-0226.
